Year in summary: Trends and predictions for the Melbourne property market in 2020

Reviewing 2019, CoreLogic’s Tim Lawless characterised the year as a record setting downturn in both depth and duration, followed by a swift recovery that left Sydney and Melbourne values about 9.5 per cent above their May low. Capital city values were expected to finish the year around 2.2 per cent higher. Growth was tipped to continue into 2020 but to lose pace as listings rose and affordability worsened.
