Last updated: 21/09/2026. This guide explains how to keep the CPD record in MY PIPA. The requirement itself is set out in the PIPA CPD policy.
Who the requirement applies to
CPD is a condition of QPIA accreditation, not of PIPA membership. It applies to a graduate of the QPIA Accreditation Program who holds a current QPIA accreditation membership and a current financial PIPA membership. The requirement begins in the financial year after the accreditation membership begins.
A QPIA holds 25 CPD points in each financial year. The year runs from the 1st of July to the 30th of June, and the year now open is FY2026-27, closing on the 30th of June 2027.
Any other financial PIPA member may keep the same record as an optional tool. For those members MY PIPA shows no target, no shortfall and no reminder, and says on the record itself that it is not a requirement of membership. A member working towards accreditation is encouraged to use it, because a complete record is required before an application for accreditation is assessed.
The record and your renewal
Activities are recorded in MY PIPA as you complete them. There is no annual upload, no spreadsheet and no separate form. From the 1st of July 2027 a QPIA renewal cannot be completed until the record holds 25 points for FY2026-27, so the work recorded between now and the 30th of June 2027 is what carries that renewal.
Opening your record
Sign in to MY PIPA and choose CPD from the dashboard menu. The screen opens on the current financial year. The year selector at the top right opens any earlier year you have entries in.
Reading the progress panel
For a QPIA, the panel shows the points held against the 25 required, the number of activities behind them, the number of categories they are drawn from against a minimum of three, and the days left in the year. It turns green when the year is complete. A member keeping the optional record sees the points recorded and the activities, without a target.
Adding an activity
- Open Add a CPD activity. The form is open by default on the current year. Every field is on one screen, and the points are calculated for you.
- Enter the date the activity took place, not the date you enter it. This field decides which financial year the points count in, so a course finished in June 2026 counts to FY2025-26 even if it is recorded today.
- Choose the activity and enter the hours or days. Each entry in the list shows what it is worth. The Points field fills itself and cannot be edited. Where an activity is worth a flat figure, such as a certificate level course, the quantity field closes and the points appear on their own.
- Attach your evidence, or name someone who can confirm it. A certificate of attendance, a ticket, an agenda, a receipt or a copy of your own published article, in PDF, JPG, PNG or Word, up to 8 MB. Where you hold no document, name a person who can confirm you attended and give their email address or telephone number.
- Tick the declaration and record the activity. Every submission carries a declaration that the activity is true and complete and that any evidence attached is genuine. The date you submit is stored separately from the date of the activity. A declaration known to be false when it is made may be referred to the PIPA committee.
Events you bought a ticket to
Where PIPA has allocated points to an event, buying a ticket puts the activity into your record as pending. After the event it appears under Awaiting your declaration, and once you confirm attendance the points join your total.

Points are claimed in full or half points only. The same activity is claimed once in a year, and surplus points do not carry into the next year. Ordinary business activity is outside the matrix: client meetings, inspections, marketing and product specific sales training earn no points.
What you will hear from PIPA
At the start of each month PIPA sends each QPIA a short summary: the points recorded for the current year, the points still required before the 30th of June, and the dates the QPIA accreditation and the PIPA membership renew. Once the requirement is met the email says so and stops asking. Members keeping the optional record do not receive this summary.
If you fall short
Where a QPIA reaches the 30th of June without the required points, PIPA gives notice and allows 30 days to record activities completed inside the year. Where the shortfall remains after that period, the accreditation is recorded as pending CPD and the listing is held back from the Find a QPIA adviser directory until the position is corrected.
If you have been away from practice for a substantial part of the year through parental leave, extended illness, carer responsibilities or defence reserve service, write to PIPA before the 30th of June and the committee will consider a reduction.
