What do recessions mean for house prices?

Press coverage 9 September 2020 Summary of published coverage

Writing for Canstar, buyer’s agent Daniel Walsh argued that Australian housing had historically weathered downturns, citing PIPA research showing median house prices rose by as much as 100 per cent in the five years following recent recessions. CoreLogic recorded only a 0.6 per cent fall in the national median dwelling value over the three months to July. Record low rates, repayment pauses and schemes such as HomeBuilder were flagged as supports absent in earlier slumps.
