Analysis of Australian Bureau of Statistics data by PIPA found regional Tasmania led the country for capital growth between June 2004 and June 2024, with median house values climbing 233 per cent, while regional Northern Territory trailed on 100 per cent. Adelaide, Hobart and Brisbane were the strongest capitals. Researchers said smaller cities and cheaper regions had delivered the best long-run returns, and that growth arrived in uneven bursts.
