Subdued investor activity had left a shortage of rental homes that would make conditions harder for tenants, PIPA said. Chairman Peter Koulizos noted investors accounted for at least 35 per cent of lending between 2007 and 2017 before falling away, with new investor loan commitments sliding from a peak of $10.1 billion in April 2015 to $4.2 billion in May 2020.
