Survey reveals two-thirds of investors in the negative

The 2024 PIPA Investor Sentiment Survey found close to 65 per cent of respondents were running their residential portfolios at negative cash flow, a sharp lift on the prior year. Chair Nicola McDougall said higher lending costs had far outweighed rent increases, leaving most landlords topping up repayments from wages or savings. About 60 per cent of single-property owners expected the shortfall to persist for at least five years.
