Softer market conditions offer opportunities for women to invest

PIPA research found women made up just 27 per cent of property investors, which buyers agent Kate Hill said compounded the gender pay gap and lower superannuation balances. Hill argued that softer prices and reduced buyer competition made the following six months a favourable window for women to purchase. PIPA chair Nicola McDougall said financial independence through property ownership could make a substantial difference after separation.
