Rentvesting was presented as a route into ownership for buyers priced out of the suburbs they wanted to live in, allowing them to rent there while purchasing in a cheaper area. PIPA chair Nicola McDougall and adviser Matthew Hughes said the strategy could bring forward market entry, but cautioned that it demanded financial discipline and offered less housing security than owner occupation.
