Rent rises ease but crisis’ link to population density found to be tenuous

PropTrack’s March quarter report showed national advertised rents rose 9.1 per cent over the year, the first time in two years that annual growth had fallen below 10 per cent, although total listings were the lowest for a March since 2010. Separate CoreLogic analysis found only a weak relationship between population density and growth in rents or values, with the pattern for houses running counter to units.
