Australian Taxation Office figures showed registered nurses ranked third among landlord occupations nationally, with school teachers outnumbering IT workers and truck drivers ahead of solicitors. Industry figures said the numbers undercut the idea that rental housing was owned mainly by the wealthy, noting most landlords held one or two properties. They warned tax changes would fall hardest on lower paid investors.
