Queensland drew the largest number of interstate arrivals of any state during the first year of the pandemic, recording net internal migration of 30,785 people in the 12 months to March 2021, according to an REA Group white paper. New South Wales and Victoria lost 17,796 and 18,191 residents respectively, while regional Australia gained about 43,000 people from the capital cities.
