The Queensland government launched Boost to Buy, a $165 million pilot letting first home buyers purchase with a deposit as small as 2 per cent, with the state taking an equity stake of up to 30 per cent and 1,000 places offered over two years. Homes valued to $1 million qualified, with income ceilings of $225,000 for couples and $150,000 for a single applicant. PIPA chair Nicola McDougall welcomed the move but sought broader tax reform.
