Property poised to remain “resilient”

With unemployment reaching 7.4 per cent in June, its highest level since 1998, PIPA chairman Peter Koulizos said the housing market was likely to hold up. He cited association research showing capital city house prices rose substantially in the five years following each downturn since the 1970s, and said support packages and mortgage repayment pauses left the market better positioned than in earlier contractions.
