Peter Koulizos argued any pandemic-driven weakness would be short lived, citing PIPA research showing capital city house prices rose strongly in the five years after each downturn since 1973. Propertyology’s Simon Pressley expected pent-up demand, record low interest rates and stimulus to lift the market once restrictions eased. SQM Research reported combined capital city asking prices rose 0.7 per cent for houses over the month to early May.
