No need to panic on unemployment figures

Peter Koulizos said the June unemployment rate of 7.4 per cent was expected and likely to rise further, but saw no cause for alarm among homeowners and investors. He pointed to PIPA research showing capital city house prices sat higher five years on from every recession or downturn since the early 1970s, and argued support measures such as JobKeeper and repayment pauses left the market better placed than in past slumps.
