Melbourne, Sydney soar up global liveability rankings but Brisbane cries foul

Melbourne and Sydney returned to the top five of The Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2023 global liveability index, with Perth and Adelaide among the biggest improvers and Brisbane placed 16th. Better healthcare scores after the pandemic lifted results worldwide. Coverage noted the rankings offered little comfort to renters and first home buyers, with industry data showing net investor numbers down 55 per cent in five years.
