Suburbtrends reported almost 12,000 former rental properties were listed for sale nationally in the year to January, making up 18 per cent of listings compared with 16 per cent a year earlier. Landlord selling more than doubled in both Tasmania and the Northern Territory, and CoreLogic’s Tim Lawless said the widening gap between mortgage servicing costs and rental income was squeezing some landlords.
