Housing market shrinks for fifth month, but there’s signs of a recovery

National dwelling values slipped 0.1 per cent in September, the smallest monthly fall since the pandemic began, as declines in Melbourne and Sydney offset gains across the other capitals, CoreLogic reported. Regional values rose 0.4 per cent, with research head Tim Lawless pointing to remote work and demand for lower density housing. Listings sat about 25 per cent below the five year average, helping to steady prices.
