Houses to homes: Pets and picture-hanging OK, say new rent reforms

Western Australia’s second tranche of rental reforms began on Monday, permitting pets and minor alterations unless a landlord obtained approval to refuse from the Commissioner for Consumer Protection, and cutting the frequency of rent rises to once a year. RSPCA WA said housing problems were behind more than a quarter of animal surrender requests. PIPA questioned whether the measures would keep investors in an already undersupplied market.
