Analysis by investment group Jarden forecast rental inflation of about 10 per cent in 2024, the strongest since the global financial crisis, easing to around 8 per cent in 2025 and staying above 6 per cent into 2026. The firm pointed to rebounding migration, record low vacancies and weak dwelling investment, and warned the pressure would complicate the Reserve Bank’s task of returning inflation to target.
