Queensland mortgage repayments had risen about 61 per cent since April 2022, with Canstar calculating the average state borrower paying roughly $1,352 more each month. PIPA chair Nicola McDougall said landlords near their holding cost limit would either sell or lift rents at the next legislated opportunity, while the Real Estate Institute of Queensland pointed to falling first home buyer numbers and weak building approvals.
