Queensland Budget targets first home buyers in high-price market

Queensland’s 2025-26 budget centred on housing, headlined by a $165 million shared equity scheme offering first home buyers equity of up to 30 per cent on new homes and 25 per cent on existing ones valued to $1 million. REIQ chief executive Antonia Mercorella said the thresholds matched current Queensland prices, while PIPA chair Nicola McDougall called the measures pragmatic and urged reform of stamp duty and land tax settings for investors.
