The Reserve Bank left the cash rate at 0.1 of a percentage point in August 2021 as lockdowns weighed on activity, a decision CreditorWatch chief economist Harley Dale said was expected. PIPA analysis of two decades of cash rate movements was also cited, with chairman Peter Koulizos arguing recent price rises owed more to strong buyer demand and scarce listings than to the marginally lower rate.
