After PIPA survey findings that rate rises, higher government charges and tenancy reforms had prompted many investors to sell, buyer’s agents and economists urged those who could afford to hold to stay put. They pointed to rents rising 14.6 per cent nationally, continued migration driven price growth and expectations that interest rates would ease during 2024 as reasons sellers might later regret leaving.
